I love this place. Lots of parking for easy access to walking/biking/jogging trail completely car-free. Along a small creek.
If you are looking for a good running or biking location away from hectic city traffic, look no further that Shades Valley Greenway. 2.5 miles of wide asphalt that caters to walkers, runners, and cyclists. Plenty of parking on each end and only one side street to navigate, which is well marked.
Perfect for walking, running, jogging or bicycling. Sidewalks also connect to Homewood and Green Springs. You can stay on the road for a good many miles and reach a ton of shops and restaurants.
Great, paved multi-use trail. 2.5 miles in length one way. Expect the trail to be very crowded on weekends and can be a tight squeeze on a bike when crowded. Also very flat with essentially no elevation.
My family loves the Shades Valley Greenway. The parking lot at the trailhead is tiny, but don't worry, the lot right next to it for the soccer fields is huge and has plenty of extra space. We enjoy starting from this end and walking to 5 Guys in Brookwood Village for lunch and back (6 miles round trip).
